Festivals in Finland are not only beneficial to adults but to their little angels as well. They have the Children’s Summer Festival that highlights the talents of the children. Held at the Warkaus Hall, during this weeklong event, kids will be clattering the place with their little dancing shoes, while those children from the park are making somersault and scarecrows. Visitors of the festival will be wandering on the streets of Varkaus from one event to another. The festival will not only be for kids but for the whole family alike with the adventure Island and the Leafy Man park concert.
Events included in the festival are Song Contest for Children and Young People, outdoor concert and the Finnish Sumersault Championships, The Lasten Luku Varkasu children’s literature award, children’s and the workshops.
The Song Contest for Children and Young People is happening in the Warkaus Hall. This singing contest is open to children up to 16 years of age. The Vekara Orchestra accompanies all of the performers.
The outdoor concert and the Finnish Summersault Championships on the other hand showcases live musical performances, a nice summer weather, and a picnic basket. A summersault contest is also organized for participant of all ages.
The Lasten LukuVarkaus children’s literature award is given to the best children’s book with a prize of €3,500.
During the festival is also a children’s workshop that features events like sand sculpting, clay molding, fishing, and learning some manual skills.
In 2010, the Children’s Summer Festival will be held in June 14 to 20. Opening of the festival will be on a Monday June 14, 2010 at 10am featuring various entertainments.
