The Helsinki Zoo

A zoo will always be every tourist’s favorite attraction to visit in a place. In Finland, the Helsinki Zoo will take you to the whole world in one single island. Found in Korkeasaari, the Helsinki Zoo will take you to travel from tundra to the rainforest and form the beautiful foreign mountain peaks to the domestic wetlands. The zoo boasts of their 150 animal species and almost 1000 plant species.

Feel like being at the Amzonian rain forest as you hear the sharp cried of parakeets and little monkeys that run along the treetops or enjoy tuning yourself to the slow rhythms of life in the African desert together with the cold-blooded lizards and turtles. One can also enjoy the Indonesian jungles as they witness the uncoiling on the branch of the bright green snake or the hiss of a cockroach.

The Helsinki Zoo will also take you to the bareness of the Himalayan mountaintops and will let you enjoy bonding with the snow leopards, takins, wild horses, camels, Asiatic asses, miniature pandas, and markhors. There are still many species to enjoy aside from the abovementioned when you visit the Helsinki Zoo and it will surely make your visit a remarkable one.

The Helsinki Zoo is open daily at 10am to 8pm on May to August, 10am to 6pm on September, 10am to 4pm on October to March, and 10am to 6pm on April. The zoo is accessible by bus, metro, ferry, and car. When getting there by bus, the Zoo Bus or bus number 11 runs from the Central Railway Station to the Helsinki Zoo all year round. One can also take the metro via the nearest Metro Station, which is the Kulosaari. Another possibility to get into the Helsinki Zoo is to take the ferry via the Kauppatori boat that runs daily from May to September and via the Hakaniemi boat that runs daily from June to August.
